JointPrep

Pre-Habilitation and Coordinated Recovery for Joint Replacements and Orthopaedic Care

Overview

The outcome of an orthopaedic procedure, such as a total knee, hip, or shoulder replacement, is determined not only by what happens in the operating theatre, but also by your physical condition going into surgery.

The JointPrep Pathway is a dedicated pre- and post-operative conditioning program. By optimizing your joint range, muscle strength, and general cardiovascular fitness before surgery, we set you up for a smoother operation, shorter hospital stays, and a faster, more complete return to function.

Who This Pathway Is For

  • Patients scheduled for upcoming hip, knee, or shoulder arthroplasty (replacements)
  • Individuals undergoing major tendon, ligament, or joint reconstructions
  • Patients with advanced osteoarthritis seeking to maximize joint preservation and delay surgical intervention
  • Post-operative patients needing physician oversight during their recovery continuum

What We Focus On

  1. 01

    Pre-Operative Conditioning ("Pre-hab")

Targeted strengthening of stabilizing muscles (e.g. quadriceps, gluteals, rotator cuff) to make post-op recovery easier.

  2. 02

    Weight & Metabolic Optimization

Gentle, joint-friendly exercise strategies (including hydrotherapy options) to improve cardiorespiratory health prior to anaesthesia.

  3. 03

    Environmental & Home Planning

Pre-operative home assessments and assistive equipment planning so your living space is ready and safe on discharge day.

  4. 04

    Post-Operative Continuum

Seamless transition into hospital-based day rehabilitation or intensive outpatient programs immediately following discharge.

  5. 05

    Swelling, Scar, and Gait Management

Active medical monitoring of swelling, wound healing, pain control, and early, symmetric walking mechanics.

What Your Journey Looks Like

  1. Pre-Surgical Baseline

4 to 8 weeks before surgery, we assess baseline strength, range of motion, and functional mobility.

  2. Targeted Conditioning

A structured, low-impact exercise routine designed to protect the affected joint while conditioning the surrounding muscle groups.

  3. Surgery & Acute Phase

Your surgical team takes the lead in hospital, while your rehabilitation plan is already mapped and ready.

  4. Structured Post-Operative Recovery

Structured progressive physical therapy to regain joint range, restore power, and return you safely to sports, gardening, and daily activities.

Most patients need a current GP or specialist referral before their first consultation. Here’s how that works.
